Strengthening Families

EVENT: The United Community Center, which serves families on Milwaukee’s south side, held its 47th anniversary celebration earlier this year.
CAUSE: Funds will help build a new Acosta Middle School as well as support a wide variety of client programs and student scholarships.
PROCEEDS: Almost $280,000 was raised through donations and sponsorships.

Cheers to the Kids

EVENT: Friends of the Jewish Community Center (JCC) enjoyed fine wines and sweet and savory bites from nearly 40 of the area’s best restaurants, chefs, bakers and caterers at the 28th annual KidShare culinary event at The Pfister Hotel.
CAUSE: Proceeds benefit the Jewish Community Pantry and fund the JCC’s scholarships for early childhood education, day and overnight camps, and special needs programs for children and adults.
PROCEEDS: More than $350,000 was raised through sponsorships, ticket sales, a raffle, and silent and live auctions.

Gathering on the Green hosted a fundraiser at the Wisconsin Club’s Country Club. Attendees enjoyed a silent auction, dinner and music by the Lou Menchaca Trio. Proceeds benefited Gathering on the Green’s youth and scholarship programs.

Danceworks - Once in a Lifetime

Guests gathered at the BMO Harris Bradley Center to witness more than 700 students from the Danceworks Mad Hot program compete in ballroom dancing. The event raised $20,000 for Danceworks.

Honoring Local History

EVENT: History aficionados celebrated at the Milwaukee County Historical Society’s 64th annual awards dinner at The Pfister Hotel’s ballroom.
CAUSE: Funds help the organization to preserve Milwaukee’s history and share it with residents and visitors.
PROCEEDS: $65,000 was raised through a silent auction and sponsorships.
HONORED: A number of people were recognized, including Bud Selig for his role in shaping and documenting local history.

EVENT: Friends of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) gathered at its annual Creative Fusion event in the school’s studios.
CAUSE: Funds go toward student scholarships in support of MIAD’s mission to ignite curious minds through art, design and service.
PROCEEDS: More than $425,000 was raised through auctions, event sponsorships and ticket sales.

Literary Nuggets

EVENT: The Friends of the Milwaukee Public Library hosted the Spring Literary Luncheon at the Wisconsin Club. Elizabeth Strout, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “Olive Kitteridge,” shared wise words as this year’s featured speaker.
CAUSE: Proceeds provide support to keep the library’s collections, resources and programs free and accessible for the community.
PROCEEDS: $27,000 was raised through ticket sales, corporate and patron sponsorships, new memberships and a raffle.
